Description

In 1943 the heavy tank battalions equipped with Tigers were a formidable enemy for the Soviet armor. None of the Red Army’s heavy tanks had a gun to cope with them and penetrate their armor. The Soviet response was a provisional vehicle, the SU-152 “Zveroboy” (Samokhodnaya Ustanovka-152). On the chassis of a KV-1S heavy tank was mounted a 152 mm gun/bus. It arrived in time for Kursk, proving to be also an excellent improvised anti-tank capable of knocking out the best protected German armor.
